There will be a Big Brew Event at Carrs Lane on Saturday 6 March, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Please come and sample a cup of Fairtrade tea! You will join thousands of people in the UK in bringing about positive change in the lives of many millions of tea workers in developing countries who depend on the tea industry for their livelihoods; yet too many remain in poverty, doing physically demanding work for low pay.
You will be able to send messages to the five biggest tea brands asking them to 'Go Fairtrade'. In addition you will have the opportunity to support Traidcraft's vital development work.
There will be a Quiz, and many products from the latest Spring Catalogue on display and to buy. There will be time to chat and of course cups of tea and coffee and biscuits. How many cups of tea can we serve??........50?......100?.... more? Do encourage friends and neighbours to come.
With only 10% of tea sold in the UK being Fairtrade, isn't it time all producers got a fair deal? People like Rita and her two sisters and orphan grandchildren in Malawi. With no money to buy essentials like fertiliser, they cannot increase their earnings. "We can go for two or three days with empty stomachs." It doesn't have to be this way. Come and find out more of what Traidcraft is doing to alleviate poverty.
